Welcome aboard The Wild Duck, a former boat, that is now on dry land, built back in 1878 and the only one of its kind open for holidays throughout the year, allowing everyone to share and enjoy her charm, true romance and sheer intrigue of staying onboard an original boat over 135 years old, without even having to get your feet wet.

It is true to say that once experienced, The Wild Duck will remain in your memories forever, it is the perfect holiday retreat with idyllic surroundings, providing a wonderful holiday for all who come aboard…

How to Book

Please check the availability calendar for your preferred dates. You can either email us via the enquiry form, or email directly to enquiries@thewildduck.net

 

Payment Terms - one third of the rental cost is required as a deposit at the time of booking, the balance is due six weeks prior to the start of your holiday. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable.

 

Security deposit - we request a security deposit of £100 to cover the cost of any damage to the property or its contents that may accidentally occur during your stay. This is refunded within seven days of departure, as long as the property and its contents remain undamaged.

Rental Costs

The Wild Duck is available to rent on a weekly basis from Friday to Friday, arrive 3pm, departure 10am, or for 3-4 day breaks subject to availability, normally in low season or last minute availability.


The Wild Duck is a no smoking property and well behaved dogs are welcome. There is a charge of £15 per dog.

Just imagine the sun beaming in as you wake in the mornings, take a look out one window and the sea is just 200 metres away, look out another window and see the stunning RSPB nature reserve and river. The terraces allow you to just sit back and soak up the views, or experience some of the most breath-taking sunsets you will ever see, plus, what could be more therapeutic than drifting off to sleep to the sound of the waves rolling in…

 

Inside the holiday cottage accommodation is clean, comfortable and inviting with a nice bright and airy feel and, being self catering, there is every convenience you could wish for including free wireless internet connection. Cleverly, one of the bedrooms has been built into the bow of the boat, providing fantastic 180 degree views outside. There are also delightful views from the lounge and kitchen.

Accomodation

The lounge and kitchen have views across to the sand dunes and towards the sea - Relax in either of the comfortable two-seater sofas or armchairs. There's children's table and chairs, a colour TV with DVD player, radio, CD player, iPod dock and free WiFi. The fitted kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, fridge, small freezer, oven, grill, hob, microwave, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine.

 

The Wild Duck has three bedrooms - The Master bedroom has a double bed and built in wardrobe, situated in the bow of the boat and giving 180 degree views. A double bedroom, with built-in wardrobe and a light and airy children's bedroom with twin beds that both enjoy views over to the river, both situated in the hull of the boat.

Outside you can relax on elevated sun terraces on the front (with BBQ) and back with tables and chairs allowing you to sit back and soak up the views. There is a large un-fenced area of wild grass and flowers surrounding the boat house, for children to play.

 

Duvets, pillows, linen, towels and tea towels are provided. Oil fired radiators throughout.
